Dear Downtown Merchants & Residents,

The Village of Long Grove wishes to notify you that the Robert Parker Coffin Bridge Approach Improvement Project is scheduled to begin the first or second week of September 2008. The proposed construction will consist of the full depth removal of existing approach pavements, fence removal, sidewalk removal/salvation, installation of vehicular/sidewalk paver bricks, fencing, HMA patching and minor bridge steel structure adjustment. As part of the proposed construction, the Robert Parker Coffin Bridge will be closed along with a portion of Robert Parker Coffin Road to all pedestrian and vehicular traffic. The times and dates of the closures and openings are dependent upon material delivery and are as follows:

 

EARLIEST ALLOWABLE BRIDGE/ROAD CLOSURE:

Approximately 7:00 a.m., September 1st, 2008

 

PROJECTED BRIDGE/ROAD CLOSURE:

Approximately 7:00 a.m., September 8th, 2008

 

BRIDGE/ROAD OPENING:

Approximately 11:59 p.m., September 30th, 2008

 

A detour plan will be implemented to direct traffic around the Robert Parker Coffin Bridge (see attached sheet).

 

The proposed Robert Parker Coffin Bridge Approach Improvement Project road closure will completely block traffic flow to Schaffer Road from Robert Parker Coffin Road. Local traffic will be allowed to access Schaffer Road from Illinois Route 53 only. As part of the detour plan, Schaffer Road will be open to two-way traffic and all signs indicating one-way traffic will be temporarily covered or removed. This traffic pattern will be implemented for the duration of the project or until the Robert Parker Coffin Bridge is open to all pedestrian and vehicular traffic.

 

The contractor is tentatively scheduled to begin work on Monday, September 8th and will be completed with all work at the latest by September 30th. Further information about the contractor’s schedule will be forthcoming should there be any significant changes.
