2. Consideration of
elevations for the Long Grove Promenade, northwest corner Illinois Routes 83
and 53, submitted by Monarch Design Company.
Commissioner Marshall and Chair Staub indicated to the petitioner that
the proposed two story building was too close to the existing Bank.
They requested the petitioner consider separating the two buildings as far as their plan would allow. It was also suggested by the Board that the petitioner remodel the existing
Bank to incorporate some of the elements of the new building design. The petitioner however indicated that the exist Bank building was not open for discussion and that it was determined at the previous Village Board meeting that they were not required to do anything with the existing building.
The petitioner agreed to move the proposed two story building to the north by a distance equal to that of one parking stall length and revise the promenade walk and drives accordingly. The brick was presented and approved as Glengary Summerset. Commissioner Marshall moved to accept the aforementioned changes and elevations of the buildings dated February 4, 2008. Commissioner Plunkett seconded the motion.
On a voice vote; all aye
Commissioner Lyman expressed concerns about the relationship of the buildings after the motion passed. She stated that even with the location change, the proposed building did not relate appropriately to the existing bank building from a spatial standpoint. Although options were discussed regarding altering the buildings shape the petitioner stated they had extensively studied other alternatives and this was the most viable option.
Further discussion requested the petitioner come back to the AB for review and approval on the following items: Signage, screening of mechanical equipment, landscaping, and site lighting. Additionally the site plan must be reviewed and approved as per the motion.
3. Consideration of
request for signage for “The Keeping Room,” 130 Old McHenry Rd. within the B-1

Commissioner Marshall moved to accept the signage as presented, seconded by Commissioner Plunkett.

4. Consideration of a
request for signage for the “Olive Tap,” 308 Old McHenry Rd. within the B-1
Historic District submitted by Signs Now.

5. Consideration of a
request for signage for the “Olive Tap Gourmet Market,” 201 Robert Parker
Coffin Rd. within the B-1 Historic District, submitted by Signs Now.

6. Consideration of a
request for a gazebo addition for “The Long Grove Café,” within the B-1
Historic District, submitted by Bill Hristakos.
The AB recommended moving the rotisserie, which was to be housed in a gazebo structure, closer to the main building. Specifically between the bridge and the existing deck. The petitioner was directed to have the revised concept reviewed by the Zoning Board to determine if the use and location meets code. Upon returning to the AB for final approval the petitioner was asked to present formal plans and elevations of the proposed rotisserie and enclosure.
